Creamy Fish Mash is a suitable weaning version of fish pie which is both tasty and nutritious. It’s so good I can’t help but eat it myself!

I have used Salmon in the recipe but feel free to use Mackerel, Haddock, Cod or Pollock.

Salmon is a good source of Omega-3

A good source of

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids
  • Protein
  • Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene)
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Selenium
  • Fibre

Ingredients

  • 1 x Salmon Fillet
  • 2 x Sweet Potatoes
  • 20g Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 x Head of Small Broccolli
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 4 x tablespoons of Breastmilk or formula

You will need

Method

1) Prepare the Broccolli and Sweet Potatoes by peeling and cutting into small chunks.

2) Place the Broccolli and Sweet Potatoes into seperate saucepans, cover with hot water and boil until they are tender, You can test this with a fork. Broccolli may take around fifteen minutes while the sweet potato will take a lot less, depending on how large your pieces are.

3) Meanwhile, go over your fish fillet to make sure there are absolutely no bones. Place the fillet skin side up on some foil and grill on a medium heat for six minutes both sides. You can tell when the fish is cooked through if it is hot in the middle and the flesh flakes easily in the fingers.

4) Place your cooked potato and broccolli into your blender. Flake the fish flesh into the blender, again yo ucheck for bones when doing this, and leave the skin aside. Add the unsalted butter, lemon juice and the milk and blend thoroughly.

5) Fill up you ice cube tray or portioner evenly with the puree and, when cooled completely, place in the freezer.

6) Once frozen you can empty you portions into a freezer bag so you can use the portioners again!

To reheat just warm a portion in a saucepan over a gentle heat or in the microwave. Test the temperature on your top lip.

If you do use a microwave to heat food always remember to stir thoroughly to remove hotspots!
