This recipe uses avocado which is a very nutritious fruit, full of the good fats essential for anybody, especially a growing baby!

Avocados are rich in vitamin K, potassium and healthy oils

A good source of

  • Fibre (Pectin)
  • Vitamin C
  • Iron
  • Potassium

Ingredients

  • 1 x Pear
  • 1/2  x Ripe Avocado
  • 1/2 x Tablespoon of hot Water

You will need

Method

1) Prepare the pear by removing the core and the peel, then prepare the avocado by cutting it in half, removing the stone and peeling the skin off. Cut both into small chunks making sure you only have the fruit flesh!

2) Place the pear chunks in the saucepan with the hot water and slowly bring to a simmer. Continue simmering until the fruit breaks up easily with your fork or spoon. Be careful not to overheat or boil too much otherwise you will lose vital nutrition from the fruit.

3) Take off the heat and allow to cool.

4) Once cooled you can combine with the avocado pieces and carefully mash with a fork or use a blender.

4) Fill up you ice cube tray evenly with the puree and, when cooled completely, place in the freezer.

5) Once frozen you can empty you portions into a freezer bag so you can use the cube tray again!

To reheat just warm a portion in a saucepan or the microwave. Test the temperature on your top lip.

If you do use a microwave to heat food always remember to stir thoroughly to remove hotspots!
