When Should You Start Weaning Your Baby?

You may be keen to start weaning as early as possible after all, this is the first step towards eating solid food and the benefits gained by your baby’s use of the mouth and tongue gives them a great start towards their speech skills.

As a general rule, your babies digestive system is not ready to take on and manage solid food until they’re at least four months old so we recommend you do not start before then.

Your baby will give you some sure signs they’re ready to try food – you may notice they’re still hungry after drinking a full 9oz bottle of milk, or that they start to wake up for more feeds in the night. You may also find your baby taking a keen interest in what you are feeding yourself. These are natural signs of your baby desire to try things other than milk. Time to dig out the blender from the back of that cupboard!
