You are probably thinking this is a really strange combination but like all weird combinations, it works well and tastes lovely! You can add a little yoghurt to this recipe if you want to start introducing dairy products to your baby’s diet. The maple syrup is an optional addition if you want to add flavour!

Pears are a good source of fibre

Ingredients

  • 2 x Pears
  • 1 x Avocado
  • 1 x Teaspoon of Maple Syrup
  • 1 x Tablespoon of plain yogurt
  • Breastmilk or formula

You will need

Method

1. Prepare your pears by peeling, coring and dicing the flesh. Place the pear in a frying pan with a tablespoon of water and the maple syrup. Heat gently.

2. Prepare your avocado by cutting in half from top to bottom, around the stone. Twist the two halfs and they should come apart. Remove the stone, peel and slice.

3. When the pear has softened, add the fruit mix, the yoghurt and the avocado to your blender. Blend thoroughly. Add enough breastmilk or formula to adjust the consistency.

4. Fill up you ice cube tray or portioner evenly with the puree and place in the freezer.

5. Once frozen you can empty you portions into a freezer bag so you can use the portioners again!
