Ingredients
- 1 x small Red Onion
- 5 x Large Carrots
- 1 x Cup Frozen Peas
- 1 x Medium Potato
- 15g x Unsalted Butter
- 1 x Chicken Breast
- 1 x Teaspoons of Chopped Sage
- Breastmilk or formula
You will need
- 1 x Saucepan
- 1 x Roasting Pan
- Oven Foil
- 1 x Food processor or hand-held blender or a Baby Dan Food Mill with Serving Spoon
- 1 x Ice Cube Tray or Happy Mummy Baby Cubes Food Portioners (Stage 2)
- 1 x Chopping Board and Sharp Knife
Method
1. Fill up the kettle and put on to boil. Preheat the oven to 200 Degrees Celsius.
2. Start off by preparing the onion. Dice and slice finely.
3. Wash your chicken breast and remove the skin if there is one. Prepare yourself a large piece of foil about 14 inches by 14 inches and place your chicken breast in the middle. Add the butter, onions, peas and sage.
4. Wrap up and seal your chicken parcel and place it on the roasting Tray, then in the oven. Cook for 35 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, peel your carrots and then chop into 1/2 cm circles. Add these to a saucepan and pour your boiled water to just cover the carrots. Simmer gently for 20 minutes or until the carrots are soft.
6. Check your chicken is cooked by checking the middle of the thickest part of the breast and making sure it is not pink. If it is, Place back in the over for another ten minutes.
7. When everything is cooked, allow to cool and then add your cooked ingredients to the blender and blend thoroughly. Add enough breastmilk or formula to adjust the consistency.
7. Fill up you ice cube tray or portioner evenly with the puree and, when cooled completely, place in the freezer.
8. Once frozen you can empty you portions into a freezer bag so you can use the portioners again!
To reheat any baby food recipes just warm a portion in a saucepan over a gentle heat or in the microwave. Test the temperature on your top lip.
