7. When everything is cooked, allow to cool and then add your cooked ingredients to the blender and blend thoroughly. Add enough breastmilk or formula to adjust the consistency.

7. Fill up you ice cube tray or portioner evenly with the puree and, when cooled completely, place in the freezer.

8. Once frozen you can empty you portions into a freezer bag so you can use the portioners again!

To reheat any baby food recipes just warm a portion in a saucepan over a gentle heat or in the microwave. Test the temperature on your top lip.

If you do use a microwave to heat baby food recipes always remember to stir thoroughly to remove hotspots!

Baked Cauliflower Florets with Parmesan

I think Cauliflower is a much under-rated vegetable. I suppose a lot of people’s experiences with vegetables like cauliflower started off by finding it overboiled and water-logged next to the peas. Roasting is not just for potatoes. It brings out the sweetness in any vegetable and Cauliflower is no exception. You can also use Broccoli for this dish also. This is a great weaning finger food.

Cauliflower is a great source of Vitamin C

A good source of

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • Folate
  • Fibre
  • Vitamin B6

Ingredients

  • 1 x Large Cauliflower (or Broccoli, or both)
  • 1 x Tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 25g x Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • Pinch of Thyme
  • 1 x Teaspoon of Lemon Juice

You will need

  • 1 x Saucepan
  • 1 x Oven Dish
  • 1 x Chopping Board and Sharp Knife

Method

1. Fill up the kettle and put on to boil.

2. Preheat the oven to 200 Degrees celsius.

3. Prepare your cauliflower by cutting into small florets about an inch big.

4. Fill the saucepan with your cauliflower and pour on the boiling water. Place on the heat and boil for about 10 minutes.

5. Take straight off the heat and drain. return the cauliflower to the saucepan and add your cheese, lemon juice, olive oil and Thyme. Stur gently until everything is nicely coated with the oil and herbs.

6. Arrange the Cauliflower in your roasting trayand place in the oven for 15 minutes or until it starts to turn golden.

7. Remove and allow to cool thoroughly before presenting to your baby!

Enjoy :)

Finger Food for Babies Recipes

Here are some Finger Food for Babies Recipes, (or should I say Finger Food Recipes for Babies!) for you and your baby to try out when trying outBaby Led Weaning. Finger food for babies recipes are ideal for starting baby led weaning. I hope your baby enjoys them as much as our daughters did (when my mum made them!). As I post more I shall try to update this page. Please use the links in the side bar to browse the site for more weaning recipes and ideas!

Potato and Black Bean Finger Burgers

This is a simple and delicious baby finger food recipe for my mum’s Potato and Bean Finger Burgers. These were always my favourite when I were young and both my daughters love them as much as I did. This is actually a modification of my mum’s traditional bean burger recipe, but shaping the mixture into any shape you like, in this case, sausage shapes!

Egg free. Wholewheat Apple Pancakes with Blueberries
Pancakes are a treat in our house, we don’t wait until Shrove Tuesday to break out the frying pan and cook up delicious pancakes. This is an egg-free pancake recipe so it’s ideal for any babies ready for baby led weaning and they make great finger food when cut into fingers or quarters. I have used blueberries in this baby finger food recipe – very healthy and nutritious berries – but feel free to use whatever fruit you have available!

Chicken and Sage Finger Strips
These chicken strips should be the right size for a baby to grip and I would recommend serving them with some carrot batons which have been softened by boiling or, preferably, steaming them for five minutes. This is an egg free baby finger food recipe as it has been substituted with natural, plain yoghurt.

Let me know how you get on with these Finger Food for Babies Recipes!

Heinz is recalling a batch of its Fruity Custard Fruit Medley baby food (4 x 100g pots) because it might contain small pieces of plastic that could cause choking.

The fruit custard is being recalled and notices will appear in national newspapers tomorrow, Wednesday 3 February 2010, and will also be displayed in the shops that stock the affected baby food.
